The Change Management specialist certification course will help you develop the skills necessary to play an active and effective role within and across organizations that are going through varying degrees of change. Managing organizational change is critical to implementing every type of initiative which in turn helps the organization meet its strategic objectives. Sounds easy? Its not. Organizational change initiatives fail at an alarming rate due to the underestimation of the stakeholders (actual and perceived) impact of change. The course gives you a 360 degree view of change management from the drivers of change, the theory behind change management, investigation of change success factors, change models include techniques and tools, closing with a case study. The hands-on workshop will help participants understand the challenges working in virtual, physical and mixed environments to develop the skills necessary to define and execute an active and effective role within and across organizations that are going through change.

AIPMO is the Association of International Project Management Officers, a non-for profit association representing International Project Management Officers (IPMO), including project, program, and portfolio managers involved in defining, establishing and running high performing Project Management Offices (PMOs) in and across  industry sectors.

Course Details

The Change Management specialist certification course will help you develop the skills necessary to play an active and effective role within and across organizations that are going through varying degrees of change. 1. Recognize the drivers of change and challenges relating to change management in complex virtual and hybrid environments

3. Assess the change readiness of the organization and analyze how to reduce the resistance to change
4. What roles PMOs at different levels can play to lead and manage change across projects, programs and portfolios
5. How PMOs can help identify, select, adapt and implement the diagnostic techniques and tools for change management
6. Analyze the impact of change and how to communicate it at different levels/areas of the organization
7. Know the main change models and tailor one to your own environment
7. Learn to build an AIPMO PMO change management service including the capabilities to run this service across projects and programs
8. Critique an organization’s change readiness by understanding change success factors and applying proven techniques and approaches
9. Assess leadership styles and their impact on change
10 Discuss the importance of communication, trust and culture in the change management process;
11. Understand the different components of a communication strategy, and why these use a blend of communication methods
12. Develop skills that help employees cope throughout periods of change;

16 Contact Hours

AIPMO uses the term ‘contact hours’ for its virtual courses. Contact hours include course instruction, time allocated for homework and team exercises. Course stated contact hours may vary slightly in practice, due to spontaneous exercises or special students requests.
  • The online exam is run by AIPMO and moderated by the instructor at the end of the course
  • Open book exam 50 multiple choice questions
  • Duration 60 minutes
  • Attendees are notified by email of the results of the exam
  • On passing the exam the allocated AIPMO course contact hours will be credited to your specialist point count taking you closer your next specialist certification level

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Core, Foundational and Specialist certifications?

Each of certifcation categories serve a difference purpose. The first category 'PMO Core Certifications' show you have the competencies to design and build a service orientated PMO with services that are needed by your project community. At the top level (expert) certifcation you will have show you have the competencies to design and build one or more PMOs called (PMO topologies) within an integrated PMO Services topology. The second category of courses called 'Foundational certifcations' comprise of three certifications that are needed by everyone irrespective if your a PMO or project team member or a PM/O director. The foundational courses are the techniques and tools of a trade, so they are needed by everyone including project professionals. The third category of certifications is called the 'Specialist' certifications because the directly relate to the ability to offer PMO services. If a PMO service is planned then the PMO needs to have the capability to offer them. There are over 20 specialist courses at the time of writing. These courses are also needed by project team members as well.

What are contact hours and how can i reach Specialist level 1?

AIPMO uses the term 'contact hours' for its virtual courses. Contact hours include course instruction, time allocated for homework and team exercises. Every course has allotted contact hours and once you pass the course exam, they will be accredited to your account. Once you have reached the threshold you will be awarded the specialist level certification

What is the difference between IPMO-F, IPMO-P and IPMO-E

These three certifications are part of the PMO core certifications. IPMO-F (Foundation) is for the PMO and project team member and covers topics around working in a PMO, also working in a project team. It covers the lower part of the AIPMO Strategic Lifecycle framework-.

IPMO-P (Practitioner) is for the PMO manager, project manager senior PMO and project team member. Covers topics how to identify the need for a PMO, design, justify and build a PMO and its services.

IPMO-E (Expert) is not for everyone. It is the top certification for PMO directors and consultants who are managing, consulting or designing enterprise PMO topologies and PMO Service topologies.
